Good news for those celebrating Chinese New Year in Sabah and Sarawak! AirAsia has introduced fixed ticket prices for flights between Peninsular Malaysia and these beloved destinations, making family reunions more affordable than ever.
Travelers can fly from Kuala Lumpur to Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu, and Miri for just RM298 one-way, and from Johor Bahru to the same destinations for the same price. Looking to explore the vibrant Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan, or Tawau? No problem! One-way flights from Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru cost a slightly higher RM348.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook encourages early booking, reminding everyone not to wait until the last minute. The good news doesn’t stop there! The government plans to extend this fixed-fare initiative beyond Chinese New Year, offering similar deals for Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Kaamatan, Gawai, and Christmas.
But how does the government ensure airlines don’t manipulate prices? Loke assures the public that they’re “smart about spending money.” The Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom) closely monitors pricing, and airlines can’t inflate fares and then claim the difference from the government. Additionally, thorough audits will be conducted to ensure transparency.
This initiative builds on the success of a similar program launched for Christmas. Loke revealed that 5,000 passengers benefited from subsidized AirAsia fares during the holiday season. The maximum fare limit of RM599 set for December travel between Peninsular Malaysia and East Malaysia is also being extended.
So, what are you waiting for? Book your AirAsia flight to Sabah or Sarawak today and celebrate Chinese New Year with loved ones without breaking the bank. Remember, fixed-fare tickets are available until February 15, 2024, or until sold out. Don’t miss out on this opportunity for affordable air travel during this festive season!
