AirAsia announced today the inauguration of its first direct flight from Singapore to Sibu, Sarawak’s charming town. The first flight is scheduled to take off on December 16, 2022, with a weekly frequency of four times. The flights from Sibu to Singapore depart at 1.40pm on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, while the flight from Singapore to Sibu departs at 4pm.
In response to popular demand, AirAsia launched two back-to-back direct services connecting Singapore and Sarawak earlier this year. The first flights from Singapore to Kuching and Singapore to Miri took off on April 29, 2022. This new service to Sibu is AirAsia’s third direct international route from Singapore, giving it the carrier with the most extensive network and connectivity in Sarawak.
Sibu, a city in Sarawak’s centre region, was dubbed “Swan City.” Sibu Central Market and the Rejang River are two well-known attractions in this city. Foochow Mee Sua, Kompia, and Kompua Noodles, to mention a few local dishes inspired by its early settlers from Foochow.
